Why move to Benitachell
Move to this charming village in an exceptionally pretty location, where breathtaking views, gorgeous beaches and lashings of golf make for a great outdoor lifestyle.
Benitachell is a popular village located in Alicante province between Valencia and Alicante city. The village has a mild, warm climate year round, with temperatures rising in July and August. In addition to the excellent weather, perhaps another reason the village is so popular for overseas buyers is that it sits in an absolutely stunning spot – dramatic rugged cliffs tumble into bleached white beaches, while clear azure waters lap at the fine sands. Almost 70% of Benitachell’s current inhabitants are from overseas, 80% of which are from EU countries (mainly the UK).
Nestled between Cape Nao and Cape d’Or, the village was originally a Moorish settlement. The old town is now surrounded by several urbanisations such as the Cumbre del Sol, which has breathtaking sea views, its own little beaches and even supermarkets and banks. This picturesque village is only a five minute drive away from the beaches of Moraira and Javea, so there is lots to explore in the area.
The pace of life here is relaxed and tranquil but there is plenty to do. There are a number of excellent golf courses nearby, the closest being the Club de Golf Javea, which is less than 5 minutes away. Also worth checking out is the Steve Ballesteros-designed championship course at Oliva. If golf is not your thing, there is always cycling. Due to its steep access roads, the Benitachell hillside has also been part of the Spanish bicycle race “La Vuelta”.
You could also pop along to one of the many festivals and fiestas in the area. Taking place throughout the year, this is a brilliant chance to get to know your neighbours and immerse yourself in Spanish culture. If you have little ones, be sure to take them to the Procession of the Three Kings in January, where the three kings of Biblical lore hand out gifts to delighted children…
Property
From luxurious poolside villas to historic townhouses, modern apartments and bungalows, there is something to suit every preference here.
Transport
Although there are buses that run from Benitachell town, there is no direct train connection, so having a car is advisable.
Employment
To ensure success with your job hunt, search the wider Costa Blanca. A wide range of jobs are available across various sectors, but being able to speak Spanish is a requirement for most of these. However, jobs do come up where fluent Spanish is not a requirement, such as Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL).

Schools
If you are looking to follow the English curriculum you are in luck, as Benitachell is home to one of the Northern Costa Blanca’s most popular British International primary schools: the Lady Elizabeth School.
Living expenses
Benitachell offers a generally cheaper alternative to some of the more expensive city areas. It’s possible to have a good standard of living on a relatively low income here but this will of course depend on lifestyle.
